Homemade Granola
I sure do love the taste and texture of this nutty and delicious homemade granola. Well, actually I believe homemade anything is often better than store-bought. It’s probably all the love and stirring that goes into it:). One of the reasons I like to make this Delicious granola is because I know what I’m eating. If I feel like substituting oils or sugars or oats I can do that and still have a good product in the end.
My mom had a bed and breakfast
After I left home, I am the youngest of 5, my mom and dad would run a bed and breakfast out of their home for the next 10 years. My mom was the primary innkeeper because my dad would go to his job during the day. But here she developed some go-to recipes that she would rotate and serve her guests every morning. One of those was this granola recipe. I have adopted it as my own and made changes along the way depending on our tastes and health needs.
Here is what you’ll need
- Whole Grain oats
- Nuts
- Seeds
- Coconut
- Brown Sugar or Honey
- Coconut Oil
- Vanilla
- Maple Flavoring
- Salt
Delicious Nutty Granola
This is full of fiber and protein. Hearty, healthy granola packed with nuts and seeds.
Ingredients
- 10 cups Oatmeal
- 1 cup Coconut
- 3/4 cup Sunflower or Pumpkin Seeds
- 1 cup Nuts (pecans, sliced almonds,any nut you prefer)
- 1 1/3 cup Brown Sugar or Honey
- 3/4 cup Water
- 1 1/2 cup Coconut Oil
- 1 tbsp Vanilla Flavoring
- 1 tbsp Maple Flavoring
- 2 tsp Salt
- 1 tbsp Chia seeds (optional)
Instructions
Mix all ingredients together in a large stainless steel bowl.
Toast in oven @325 for 50-60 minutes, stirring every 10 -15 minutes.
Variation: Add 1 cup applesauce or 3/4 cup more water to add thick clumps to granola texture.

Yogurt Parfaits are so delicious. I love to eat them for a meal or dessert. Oikos Yogurt is a great way to get your protein and calcium and the fresh fruit makes me feel like it’s summer year-round.
Peaches are in season so we are eating those now but strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries are some of my other favorites.
Combine the Nutty and Delicious granola with the yogurt and fruit for a treat any time of day.
