Old Furniture Connects Us To The Past

There’s just something about an old piece of furniture. The history behind something often gives it credibility, charm and character. This Old piano while not the most glorious of sounding instruments graces our home and makes me feel connected to the past. The charm of yesteryear makes me feel nostalgic and peaceful.

Imagine Where This Came From

Can’t you just feel the story in this photo. Years ago someone sat at this table and wrote a letter to the love of his life. Or Maybe it was used for a different purpose like potting plants or baking bread. But somehow there’s a story here and my romantic mind likes to imagine all the possibilities.

When You Know You Know

I found This Antique mantel and mirror at an auction recently and I knew it had to come home with me. It was terribly dirty and had nails sticking out all over but all I saw was beauty. I tried not to act too excited but man my heart was jumping up and down screaming, “I want it! I want it!” Now even though many items don’t end up staying in my house for long I just know when I see something like this piece… it needs to come home with me. When you know you know.

Rustic Elegance

This old framed print, shutter and painted antique table invites me into the tea room and calms me from the troubles outside my walls. Well the cake helps calm me too. 🙂 Rustic elegance is my favorite. If I can make it look chippy and then add some glassware and flowers I probably will.

The Furniture Staging House

And Finally Old pieces like this painted and styled Glass Cabinet definitely don’t last here very long. This one made a trip to a resale shop and was sold from there. I call my home a staging house for Furniture because when it gets here I know it will only be here for a little while. I don’t attach to strongly to most items because ultimately I know it’s just stuff. There will always be more stuff.
