I know it’s only July but it is never too early to start dreaming about Christmas. I am already planning some of the new and fun things I’m going to be doing for Christmas this year. But today I’m going to show you a few ways I have used Old doors in past years for holiday Styling on a budget.
3 ideas to style a classic Christmas look
I love to take old things and incorporate them into the decor to give my home a feeling of nostalgia or a presence of elegance, charm, and something of a story to tell. Doors are a perfect way to do that without spending a whole bunch of money. On top of that, you can often reuse the same door year after year changing up the decor just a bit to give the space a whole new feel.
This old red door with a chalkboard insert is one of my all-time favorite doors. Its chippy wood and rustic red set the perfect backdrop to stage a classic Christmas scene.
Speaking of Christmas
I don’t know about you but Christmas is without a doubt one of my favorite holidays to decorate for. So many fun ideas pop into my head of recreating Christmas Classics. Below is another use of a door to create a Christmas look with less clutter.
If you like a little more jazzed-up look you can always add lights and some extra garland to give the same space a whole new look. Like the picture below.
If you like any of these images and want to save them for later, feel free to save them to your Pinterest board for future reference.
Other ideas to decorate with doors
One of my most repinned pins on Pinterest is my door shed. I’ve used this little shed for weddings, photo booths, as a backdrop for my markets and antique booth, and in general just a fun staging area.
Here are just 3 ideas for staging this sweet and easy backdrop for 3 different seasons.
More ways to use your old doors
I have an old door in my bedroom that I decorate for the seasons. I originally placed it there for height and balance and it has never left my bedside, even as the bedroom has evolved and changed.
We recently changed our bed from a Queen to a King and flipped the whole room a quarter turn to fit the king mattress in the room. I switched out all the furniture with it, but the door stayed.
Another way I’ve used doors is to display a message to my guests, like this door we had for Sophia’s graduation open house.
If you’re interested in seeing other ideas for a graduation party, you can check out the whole party on my youtube channel. I’ve linked it below.
In Summery
I hope this was helpful to spur ideas in your own spaces. Maybe it’s too early for you to start thinking about Christmas but as you’ve seen here you can reuse those doors for different seasons, events, and spaces to give the backdrop you need without much cost.
Let me know if you have any questions and feel free to pin these pictures to your own boards for inspiration.
Happy Day,
Rose
