Our son Jalen got married last weekend. It was a wonderful week celebrating the love and vows of lifelong commitment between Jalen and Emily. For Rehearsal Dinner, I made one of our family’s favorite Summer Dinners on the patio, The Shrimp Boil. There’s just something special about eating alfresco and off the table.
How We Got Started
We started doing these in the past 5 years. The first one we did was a back-to-school party. And After that, we realized how much fun it is to host these parties. We have had so much fun sharing this dinner with many friends and family on the back patio. It’s So easy to prepare it’s almost embarrassing. Because it’s such a different kind of meal it creates a moment and memory for your loved ones that they won’t quickly forget.
How We Do a Shrimp Boil
This Shrimp Boil is not your typical one. Instead of throwing all the ingredients in 1 pot, I prepare them separately and throw them on the grill together. The Shrimp is done completely separately and is basically just shrimp scampi. It’s the seasoning and the butter that give the flavor to this meal. We always Serve this meal paired With Homemade French Baguettes and Dipping Oil.
Our Shrimp Boil Recipe
The recipe is so easy and only requires several ingredients.
- Butter
- Old Bay Seasoning
- Salt
- Pepper
- Minced Garlic
- Garlic Salt
You can add additional spices to bring more Kick or flavors to the butter sauce or you can just use these ingredients.
Shrimp Boil Rehearsal Dinner
For our party, we just stuck to the basic butter recipe. I boil the potatoes and corn in the instant pot (or sometimes the microwave) preparing them as usual. I buy already cooked sausage rings and cut them into bite-size pieces. This gives them more flavor and they are easier to eat. I typically prepare these items in the morning. Pour the butter over top and keep them refrigerated in a foil pan.
The shrimp are cleaned and put into a 9×13 in the pan the very last thing. Typically I wait to put them into the oven until after guests have arrived. They cook so quickly and I don’t like them to be overdone and rubbery.
Below is the Recipe to print off.
