Here comes fall, and two of my favorite things to focus on styling for my home during this season are decorating tablescapes and mantels.
Fall brings back warm memories of back-to-school days, apple and grape picking, warm days, and cool crisp nights.
Table settings are always a simple way to bring this cozy season indoors as the days get shorter and we spend more evenings around the table. Our time indoors also leads us to lit fires and mantels that host candles, vases, fall colors and pumpkins.
I’m participating in a “Fall is in the air”, blog hop today so if you’re coming from Kylie’s blog, Truman’s Treasures, I’m so glad you’re here!!
Today, I’m sharing ways that I have decorated my tables and mantels for fall through the years.
Fall Farmhouse Mantel styling
Traditionally, we think of our mantel as being over a fireplace, but I would encourage you to think about a shelf, piano lid, or top of a dresser the same way you would decorate a mantel.
This coffee bar in my kitchen area is always one of those spots that gets a seasonal make over.
Any space in your home can make a statement in the same way you would style a mantel. However, I do try to make the mantel in our house a focal point to the room.
I love to shop my home and use many of the same items from year to year. I typically just spread them around to new places so it looks fresh but it doesn’t require all new purchases every year.
Can you spot some of the same pieces in the next few pictures?
Every year I like to find a few new pieces to add to my stash. This year I added these stems from Hobby Lobby. They were a bit more than I normally spend but in recent years I have concluded, I would rather spend a little more money here than on pumpkins I will throw away.

Farmhouse Tablescapes for fall
Tablescapes can be so fun and creative without spending a ton of money. This was one of my favorite scapes from last fall. The craft paper down the middle, mini faux crab apples and pumpkins, colorful pears, candles and a some dried florals and straw, all bring a simple elegance to a fall party.
Here I used food as the centerpiece. Charcuterie is a wonderful way to add fun to a table but it’s edible so your guests can eat up the centerpiece. How fun is that?!
As the season progresses I like to change it up and move toward Thanksgiving themes. It is always a good time to give thanks but in the autumn all thoughts turn to the harvest and gratitude of all we have been given.
My house is filled with all the fall colors now and I am looking forward to enjoying the next month in the pumpkin patch and at the vineyard picking grapes. Canning grape juice and freezing applesauce are one of our favorite family fall traditions.
These days are going to fly by and oh so soon we will be turning pumpkins into snowman and campfires to Christmas lights.
Final thoughts on Decorating your home for fall
I am a creator and I love styling my home and sharing ideas with other creators who enjoy doing the same. However, I never want to overwhelm or make anyone feel like there is only one way to do things. I appreciate so many styles and ideas.
I typically like to go all in on decorating but other seasons of life call for more simplicity and a less is more approach.
This is my friendly reminder to be the person and creator you were designed to be. To be as inspired as you want to be, but never let comparison or competition take the fun out of making your house your home.
